National Recognized School
We're pleased to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2024-2027 for inspiring, imagining, and impacting teaching and learning school wide through continuous innovation.
Our Story
Technology plays a pivotal role at our school to revolutionize traditional teaching methods and open up new avenues for students’ learning. Our teachers and students have grown tremendously with technology through Apple teacher certifications, Apple Professional Learning communities, and content/grade level collaborative meetings. Embracing technology in our school not only enhances academic outcomes, but also cultivates creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, empowering students to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Inspire
At Gramercy Elementary, our vision is to provide a collaborative digital environment with equitable learning opportunities that lay the foundation for all of our students to become successful, productive, life-long learners. Teachers integrate technology from Megabyte Mondays into daily lessons, utilizing collaborations tools like Google Classroom, Keynote, and Pages. By using these tools, students are able work with others while providing feedbacks to peers. Gators Giving Back connects classroom skills with real-world career paths, fostering practical understanding. Capitalizing on our students’ interests and experiences are the driving force behind fostering a desire to learn by encouraging them to personalize their learning process.
Imagine
At GES, technology fosters student empowerment, fostering creativity and critical thinking. Gators craft Keynote gifs to represent moon phases, celebrate African American culture by creating Clips videos, and explore arts through melodies created in GarageBand, character analysis green screen iMovie videos, and drawings in Sketch-school to show students’ voices. We foster connectivity, with students crafting weekly newspapers, Gator Gazette, and multimedia productions like Gator Bytes media group for social media promotion. By giving students voice, choice, and opportunity, they are able to become visionaries which leads to them taking ownership in the learning, showing pride in their work, and expressing themselves creatively.
Impact
At GES, we prioritize bridging educational disparities for our students and community. As a Title I school, ensuring equal learning opportunities is paramount. We achieve this through initiatives like virtual field trips using Class VR sets, text-to-speech accessibility features, and the LAMP communication app. Community involvement includes hospital visits, nursing home entertainment, and fundraisers like the Walkathon. Our digital media club showcases these successes by creating videos for social media. Morning meetings via Google Slides foster relationships, while student-led Bully Free Friday videos promote a positive culture. We're committed to nurturing the whole child, addressing academic and social-emotional needs alike.
